The Walk Around the World for Brain Tumours will be held between 1 January and 6 November 2010. People are encouraged to undertake sponsored or unsponsored walks to raise awareness about brain tumours and to donate the mileage covered to the World Walk target of circling the earth.

The IBTA does not wish to receive any funds raised by these walks or by other brain tumour awareness-raising activities. Funds raised should be donated to a local or national brain tumour support or research activity.

The 4th International Brain Tumour Awareness Week will be held between Sunday 31 October - Saturday 6 November, 2010 and people are encouraged to organise an activity which will contribute to increased awareness about brain tumours. It could be a walk, a picnic, an information seminar, a scientific conference, or even the distribution of a media statement to local media which draws attention to the particular challenges of a brain tumour and the need for a special response and an increased research effort.

Organisations wishing to be listed as supporters of the IBTA's 2010 World Walk  (1 January 2010 - 6 November 2010) and the International Brain Tumour Awareness Week (31 October 2010 - 6 November 2010) should contact chair@theibta.org or kathy@theibta.org

Please note: for your organisation or group to be a "supporter" of the Week and Walk, the IBTA requires no financial commitment or fee to be paid to us by you.  All we are asking for is your enthusiasm in supporting and promoting these events and for allowing us to add your name to our list of supporters.

Notes: The intention of the founding meeting was that we seek to represent all tumours of the central nervous system. As is the practice in the scientific literature and clinical use, we use the words "brain tumour", not "brain cancer".
